你喜歡裁縫(sew), 打毛線(knit), 鉤針編織(crochet), 或刺繡(embroider)嗎? 在我探訪攝影展場地的時候, 無意間發現這家Bobbin's Nest Studio, 不但販賣各種材質和顏色的毛線和布匹, 圖案花樣, 各式書籍和相關工具, 也有已做好的毛線製成品可購買, 還有團體和個人的教學課程, 甚至提供場地供你辦派對 (photo taken from company website).
我很喜歡店內賣的書, 都屬於很流行的款式, 卻不一定在市面上買得到現品, 這下就讓我很動心. 只是這一類的手工製品都很花時間, 也蠻花錢的, 就我目前的狀況, 可能不適合.
我想灣區應該有很多類似這樣的店, 只是我平時沒去注意. 不過這家店特別吸引我的, 是店內的氣氛, 不但裝飾很溫馨, 連店內的員工和顧客的互動都像認識很久的朋友, 就像一個大家庭似的. 我對Hands-On的DIY都很有興趣, 包括木工, 以前在台灣的時候也打過毛線, 勾過針, 做過幾個成品後就束之高閣.
看了它的2010年一月份的團體課程表, 當中有一個項目叫Sweater 911, 這項目底下有三堂不同補救毛衣的課程 – Embellishing with needle felting/felt applique, Embellishing with ribbon/bias tape, Big Bow Cardigan. 我自己有好幾件毛衣, 都剛好在正面底端破一個洞, 都是破同樣的位置, 讓我懷疑是因為常搭配牛仔褲的關係, 和牛仔褲鐵扣的地方密集磨擦而破損有關. 這幾件毛衣我很愛穿, 雖然破了個洞也捨不得丟, 這下可以去上毛衣補救課把破洞捕起, 有沒有人有興趣一起去上1/21的課啊?
1/21 Embellishing with needle felting/felt applique, 5:30-7:30pm, $30
Mend that sweater with a hole! Don't throw it away, mend those holes while embellishing the sweater at the same time. Making in a truly one of a kind piece. We will be mending the sweater with felt and yarn. A very quick project that require little or no sewing, depending on what you do. Bring sweaters to class that you would like to embellish or mend. We'll provide the supplies for embellishing.
1/28 Embellishing with ribbon/bias tape, 5:30-7:30pm, $30
Gussy up a basic sweater with bias tape. Have a sweater that is a bit blah? Lets embellish it with some custom made bias tape trim. Depending on your style you can refashion your sweater into a chic cardigan or a playful v-neck. Bring sweaters of your choice, 1/2 yard of washed, dried and pressed and coordinating mid weight cotton fabric.
1/31 Big Bow Cardigan, 1:30-4:00pm, $35
Refashion a no longer worn crew or v-neck sweater into a fabulous shawl collar cardigan. A fun project that mixes woven fabric with a knit sweater. Basic sewing skills are needed. Please bring a crew or v-neck sweater, 3/4 yard of washed, dried and pressed coordinating mid weight cotton fabric.
